Additional Notes
Physical Activity: Some excursions involve walking on uneven surfaces (e.g., historical sites, vineyards, mountain paths). Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Weather Considerations: November in Northern Portugal brings cooler, crisp weather with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 60°F (10°C to 16°C). While the region enjoys mild days, it can get cooler in the evenings, so packing layers is key. Light rain showers are common during this time, especially in coastal areas, so we recommend bringing a light waterproof jacket or umbrella. Comfortable shoes are essential for exploring, and a sweater or jacket for the evenings will keep you warm as you enjoy Portugal’s charming towns and landscapes.
What to Wear & Pack: In November, Northern Portugal experiences mild days and cooler evenings, so layering is essential. Pack light, breathable clothing for daytime activities, such as long-sleeve shirts, pants, and comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing and exploring. Be sure to bring a light jacket or sweater for the cooler evenings, and a waterproof jacket or umbrella to prepare for occasional rain showers. Comfortable shoes are key for walking on cobblestone streets, and don't forget to bring sunglasses and a hat for sunny days.
Time Zone: Northern Portugal operates on Western European Time (WET), which is UTC+0. During the winter months, including November, Portugal follows Western European Standard Time (WET) and does not observe daylight saving time. This means there is a 6-hour time difference ahead of U.S. Central Standard Time (CST). Be sure to adjust your schedule accordingly when planning communications or activities.
Voltage: Portugal uses a 230V electrical system with a frequency of 50Hz. The standard power plugs are Type C and Type F, which have two round prongs. If your devices use a different plug type or are not compatible with 230V, be sure to bring a plug adapter and voltage converter to ensure they work properly during your stay.
Currency: The local currency in Portugal is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but we recommend carrying some cash for smaller purchases, such as snacks or souvenirs at local markets.
Dietary Restrictions: Please inform us of any dietary restrictions or allergies ahead of time so we can make appropriate arrangements for your meals.
Travel Documents & Visas: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after the tour ends. Starting in 2025, U.S. citizens will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization to travel to Portugal and other Schengen Area countries. This is a simple online application process, and approval is usually granted quickly. Please apply well in advance of your departure.
Terms and Conditions: Please read our trip terms and conditions.
